Design History Recap

Design History was a great class. This is a recap of the projects he had us work on.

This project was after learning about Push Pin Studios and Milton Glaser. You should take some time to look over their work at http://www.pushpininc.com/ .

We were told to take an existing book or CD and redesign the cover using the style of push pin.

This was the final piece I turned in on top, and then next two were my original mock ups.

This was earlier in the quarter, where we were told to pick a designer or style we had been studying and design a poster of for an art opening. I chose Karel Teige who worked with some interesting photo montage and graphical elements. http://www.nyu.edu/greyart/exhibits/teige/

In this project, we were told design a book cover, title page and two page layout based on a designer or style and/or in their style. I chose Will Burtin who did really interesting things with mixing science and design. http://www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2007/november/will-burtin-forgotten-master-of-design

This was my final for this class. We were asked to design a portfolio cover for our own portfolio. No rules, no sizes, no instructions. This has a lot of detail that I am not sure pick up in this photo.

Intro to Photography Final Project

There were so many projects in this class, that I was unable to post them all. I think my final was my best work in the class. My final project was based on tattoos. There were ten final photos printed 8x10, matted and sleeved. Although only ten were the final pieces, there were hundreds of photos taken. They were all taken in my garage with natural light.

Kering - Design Term defined

Typography class final - our teacher assigned each of us a word in which we had to come up with a five by five design showing off that word. The top one was the winner..the store was megaflicks, but as you can see...the space ***err*** kerning - redesigned the stores sign.

Observational Drawing Final

I finally took pictures of my final portrait that was put up at the school. I also took the final pics that went up of some of the other students in my class and they are very talented. We were suppose to use a mirror to draw ourselves on these large pages but during the beginning of the project, the teacher allowed us to use a pictures to draw. Please enjoy.

ME (mirror)...although my family does not think it looks like me and my teacher does...who knows.

Brandon "the badass" (picture) who is probably one of the most talented students I have run across.

Cody (picture)...very talented as well.

Deena (picture) who is a trained make up artist and very talented.

Deena also did this one of her friend which also ended up on the wall. The detail is great.

Haley (mirror..I think) I like the delicate nature of this one.

Josh (his charcoal from earlier in the course) He is also very talented and does skateboard design.

Sue (picture) she is great and I love her work.

Sue also had the prof post this portfolio picture in the halls. You know how I love shoes.

This is Ben and Juan....Juan drew this but he drew it of Ben (another student) from when our teacher had us draw other students. It looks just like him.
