Observational Drawing Update

School is about to start for the new quarter and I just returned from a cruise with my honey bunny. I finished up Observational Drawing with a 97% and realized I had not posted all of my pictures. This is more of a catch up posting. Once again....some are good and some are bad....but you have to put it all out there.



The following are a series from a still life where every student had to bring in an object and our teacher set up a still life.... we were focusing on negative space...

Last...he wanted us to loosen up and not think about drawing..similar to drawing as a child, so we were told to bring in crayons and just draw...not sure where this came from but...

We were told to sketch and replicate the famous sketch by Sargent.

This portrait of an unnamed peasant woman reveals that Cassatt's talent and sensitivity were well expressed quite early in her career. ..It did not photograph well but you get the idea of it.

I had a TON of problems with her nose and it is hard to see in the portrait but her nose did look very similar to this, even though it killed me to draw it like this....I am suppose to draw what I see....better luck next time.
