Form & Space

This was a 3D class trying to help us think outside the box.

This was a Serial Plane project. We were to take a shape and then break it down into planes. Here is my inspiration: a classic glass decanter.
This is the computer mock up of the estimated size curve size.
Final Project...with removable top
This was a simple take home project. Take paper strips and create something. The first one I did in class looked horrible. This is the new one I did after sitting down in my studio and just knocking it out. The base is a thick mat board (11x17).
Spatial Cell project. I did not get a picture of the final but here is the computer mock up. This was also the second attempt...the first one is so bad it makes me cry and laugh when I think about it.
This was a group project where we had to do a full size cardboard cut out. This was the base. I did not get a picture of the final, but it has a black bar over the "censored" area and a tie that was hand painted by a classmate to say "it's my birthday".
The last project in this class was package design. I do not have pictures of the final products and point of purchase display but I will as soon as it goes up for display. My product was girl fishing equipment...called hook, line and sinker. Here is the logo.

Typography Class - New project

We were to take the a font and draw it using just ink and paper, then we were to 3D the project out. Here is what I wrote about this particular project.

Boyz R Gross, is the appropriate name of the font I choose for this project. The font is childish and girlie; it's a font that can be used to exude a cartoon like, fun feel to any composition. The font maker, Nick Curtis, is a prominent graphic designer that has over thirty years experience working in the design industry and whose influences include the Haight Ashbury Art Nouveau revival of the 60s and Push Pin studios. After drawing the black and white layout of the text, I worked the design until I felt it gave justice to the original font.

When it came to the 3D version of my font, I wanted something that would live up to the fun nature of the design. I created an interactive model that would allow the design to be fun but also still express many design elements. The first row of blocks is based on line and shape. The black and white design on each side of the blocks gives you different feels for how line, and shape can change a design. The next row of blocks is based on color and pattern. Each side of the blocks on the second row show different color pallets expressed in various patterns. The colorful patterns show the way the font can stand out and blend in to different designs. The last row is based on texture, color and light. Each side of the bottom blocks has a different color glitter that shines and shows texture differently. This design is pulled together by its grid like appearance set on a black background to make the blocks pop out, as thought it were an artistic abacus.

Color Fundamentals Class - Final Projects

Here is my final project from our color fundamentals class. We had to come up with a composition and then apply 10 different color harmonies to those compositions. I ended up with an A+ in this class...

They are 3D and have a ton of texture from fabrics.

The original template...
