Family Calendar

Jen and I have been needing a family calendar, but I am not a big fan of regular calendars.

I saw this idea on craftster.org http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=255567.msg2853260#msg2853260 and thought it was so cute.

Here is my take on it.

I found a picture frame at good will for $3.99 and everything else I had at home. I painted and distressed the frame. I then used black permanent marker on the inside for the lines and letters (I wrote the letters backwards) and mounted different paper art....I plan on changing it but it was what I had on hand. I also added a little bird in her nest. The great thing is, that it is easy to change. I then used a dry erase marker to put on a quote that I can change every month and put in the month, days and activities. I LOVE IT. I was surprised that Jennifer liked it too, considering she hated the frame. :)

Craftster Challenge #2 - Chair Revamp

My second challenge...

Here are the details on the second challenge:
Everyone has room for just one more chair, right?! This challenge is to take an old chair -- the uglier the better -- and remake it into something beautiful! Thrift stores often have chairs ripe for the picking. Or keep your eyes open for something someone is getting rid of on trash night. Or perhaps you already have an old chair kicking around that really needs a remake.Be sure to snap a picture of the chair before you remade it and post that too!

The before photos...After chair...painted, recovered, the back has been raised to meet the top bar (per my sister's suggestion) and I have added a custom pull out footstool. I had been trying to figure for days what I was going to do to make my chair stand out. It randomly came to me as I was walking through IKEA....add the footstool and make it so it compact and can be pulled out. Pocket on the back to keep for easy reading...while your feet are up.

As Jennifer put it...another pink chair in the house...gotta love her for putting up with my PINK...

First Craftster Swap

I have been working on several new items that I could not post b/c the person the items were for, reads this blog. I joined craftster.org years ago but just recently became active in the community. They offer different craft challenges and swaps with crafters from all over the world. I had this great lady from Fl named Maria and she is fab. The theme was "Back to Nature" Swap...basically natural items, organic, recycled items or whatever came to mind. I was so excited to send my items....I didn't take pictures. She is posting pics when she gets her package, but in the mean time I have posted the items she sent me. There are guidelines and so forth to the swaps, but too many to mention here. THANK YOU MARIA!!
