Seasons of Color

New color project...
We were to take the same composition (mine- Lava Lamp) and produce it in the different colors for season as we perceive them to be. I guess there was no wrong way to do this. I broke out the colors I felt represented the seasons and "built" the lava lamps up and then used a clear heavy plastic bag from "Tiff's Treats" to do a layer over the bubbles to make them appear behind glass when you are up close. I would probably have used a clear plastic or vellum but I was recycling.

This will be turned in tomorrow...we will see how I did...What season do you think they are?

Color Fundamentals - Mixing Projects

We just got these back and I forgot to take pictures before they left my little studio and into the hands of my teacher. I am soooo glad these are over.

This one is the each color on the color wheel and then tints (adding white), tones (adding gray) and shades (adding black) to each color...showing their progression. There were percentages and so forth, but that gets into the boring side.


This one shows how mixing complementary colors make neutrals. This shows Blue blending into Red Orange, Orange, and Yellow Orange, then it shows red blending into yellow green, green, and blue green, and last it shows yellow blending into red violet, violet and then blue violet. I don't want to bore you with the percentages...It was informative but I am glad they are done.

Color Fundamentals Class

I thought I would post some of my projects as they come up so I can see the progression. Some of the projects will be very very rough and bad because I have not sketched or done any basic techniques in several years. Let me know what you think.

Color Branding....Basically why do they use certain colors and what do those colors make you feel. I choose Orbits gum and I went from there. Color Wheel - painted wheel and labeled. The paint I used was Gouache so you can see the colors pretty well, but the orange I did in acrylic so you can't see it clearly.

I pressed these petals and then started thinking they looked a little like butterfly wings. It was probably late at night or I was low on sleep but I glued them to the inside of my sketchbook. Just a touch of whimsy..who can pass that up. Plus the colors stayed nice after drying out..to go with my color class theme.
