I had a visit from my friends and their new puppy. They wanted a costume for their dog to wear to the
Buda Wiener Dog Races. After Brainstorming, we came up with a butterfly. Penny is our model and the pictures are from before the
Velcro has been attached. The outfit consists of a dress, paper wings and glitter antennas. I made the dress out of a cotton print with flowers and butterflies, and a pink satin to give her a little sass. I used the pattern from
http://www.sewing.circleofcrafters.com/freedogdresspattern.html . I used wire to form the wings and then cut out tissue paper just larger than each panel. I glued the tissue paper on by wrapping it around the wire and then gluing the flap onto itself. I put the wire from the base into a piece of
Styrofoam to let it dry. After letting it dry...I glittered the wings with different colors to give it a little pop. I also had a few
Styrofoam balls about the right size, I attached wire into the center, then glued and glittered the antennas. After all was dry...I attached them and then used some
Velcro around the chest to hold it all in place. She looked too cute, but my friends now think I have way too much time on my hands.
See pictures below:
